BattleHawk Loitering Munition

• Textron Defense Systems has created a new flying drone that explodes on contact with enemy positions.
• It is armed with a 40 mm high fragmentation charge and weighs five pounds.
• It has a video camera built into the nose, so troops on the ground can pilot the drone over rooftops and hills.
• The drone is made of carbon-fiber reinforced polymer.
• The drone is sprung into the air by a spring and the electric motor starts the tiny propeller.
• Once into the air, the BattleHawk can travel at 60 mph for around 30 minutes.
• It is designed for dismounted enemy and light-skinned vehicles.
