1. I selected the sites that I subscribed to because, I have interests in these sites.
2. It was fairly easy to subscribe to the sites and find the feeds except for the fact that there are some blocked sites.
3. My personal sites were my favorite because they are my hobbies.
4. RSS Feeds can be used to search your interests of the web with ease and efficiency.
5. I most likely will never use RSS Feeds after this class is over. I do not go on the internet that often.

Basis Band

• The Basis Band is a watch-like device made by Basis.
• It is used to help lose weight by recording data such as how many steps you take in a day, your blood flow, heart rate, sleep patterns, and how much heat you are giving off.
• The band does this using tiny sensors.
• It provides the user with "patterns of activity," which basically helps those who are serious about fitness a better idea of what to do with the information that the band gives you.
• The device detects odd behavior in patterns each week and adjusts to get you back on track.
• The Basis Band at $200 contends with competitors such as the Nike+ FuelBand  at $150 or the FitBit One at $100 but is worth more because of the extra info and personal coaching.

When Hurricane Sandy hit, my power went out. In this time, I used social media to help keep me up to date on what was going on in other parts of America where Sandy was hit. Images of the aftermath were posted everywhere. Using social media, I knew what was going on around the world.

Samsung and Apple Profits

• Samsung Electronics reported on Friday a $7.4 billion in the third quarter and a revenue of $47.5 billion.
• Samsung said that the Galaxy S3 was a key to raising profits.
• The company does not disclose information about smartphone sales, but analysts say that the company sold about 60 million smartphones in the quarter.
• Apple reported profits of $8.2 billion and revenue of $36 billion.
• They sold 26.9 million iPhones in the quarter.

World Record Freefall

• On October 14th or this passing Sunday, Felix Baumgartner jumped from a 700-foot high helium balloon.
• The daredevil jumped from 24.2 miles high up.
• He broke records for the highest jump, the first person to break the speed of sound without the help of a vehicle, and the fastest freefall.
• During the jump he broke Mach (the speed of sound).
• He reached a final speed of Mach 1.24 or 834 mph.
• He almost broke the record for the longest freefall which is four minutes and 36 seconds.
• That record is held by Joe Kittinger who also jumped from a helium balloon at 19 miles high.

Brainwave Binocluars

• These binoculars have been under development by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) since 2007.
• The binoculars were named the Cognitive Technology Threat Warning System.
• A computer scans a 120-degree field of view.
• From there it sends images of possible threats to a viewfinder for soldiers to look at.
• DARPA says that the Cognitive Technology Threat Warning System has identified 91% of threats in testing.
• Regular binoculars only allowed soldiers to identify 47% of targets.
• The technology is being handed over to the Army's Night Vision Lab.

BattleHawk Loitering Munition

• Textron Defense Systems has created a new flying drone that explodes on contact with enemy positions.
• It is armed with a 40 mm high fragmentation charge and weighs five pounds.
• It has a video camera built into the nose, so troops on the ground can pilot the drone over rooftops and hills.
• The drone is made of carbon-fiber reinforced polymer.
• The drone is sprung into the air by a spring and the electric motor starts the tiny propeller.
• Once into the air, the BattleHawk can travel at 60 mph for around 30 minutes.
• It is designed for dismounted enemy and light-skinned vehicles.

Stealth Cruise Missile

• The Norwegian firm, Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace has developed the Naval Strike Missile.
• It weighs 900 lbs and is equipped with GPS and inertial and terrain reference systems to help it fly over all terrains.
• It can't be seen on radar because it is capable of flying in sea-skim mode, where it flies just over the ocean's surface.
• The missile can also perform high-G-force maneuvers at the last second to prevent getting shot down.
• It locates targets using an imaging infared seeker and an on-board target database to make sure that it can hit targets from about 115 miles away.
• The U.S. plans to use them for F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter.
• The Royal Norwegian Navy plans to put them on their Fridtjof Nansen class warships.
• The Polish are also eager customers.

New PS3

Sony will be releasing a new model of the PS3. It will be 20% smaller and 25% lighter. It will not have a slot-loading optical drive, but will have a disc-tray to replace it. The new PS3 will be available in two models: a 250GB version that will cost $269.99 and a 500GB model that will cost $299.99. My Summer

This summer I did not do a lot. However, I did go to Six Flags. It was pretty fun except we did not get to go on all the rides because of my scared cousins. Click here to go to their site.
