The Basis Band is a watch-like device made by Basis.
It is used to help lose weight by recording data such as how many steps you take in a day, your blood flow, heart rate, sleep patterns, and how much heat you are giving off.
The band does this using tiny sensors.
It provides the user with "patterns of activity," which basically helps those who are serious about fitness a better idea of what to do with the information that the band gives you.
The device detects odd behavior in patterns each week and adjusts to get you back on track.
The Basis Band at $200 contends with competitors such as the Nike+ FuelBand at $150 or the FitBit One at $100 but is worth more because of the extra info and personal coaching.
